HEARTLANDINFRASTRUCTURE GROUP

Heartland Infrastructure Group

Independent technical review for data center projects.

We give counties, cities, community groups, and developers an independent technical read on data center proposals, ordinances, and agreements, so decisions rest on what the documents and the engineering actually say.

What we do

Three areas of work

Data center design review

A plain-language technical review of what a project proposes: power, water and cooling, backup generation, connectivity, and how the site fits the infrastructure around it.

Design review

Operations

What running the facility actually involves once it's built, from generator testing and noise to monitoring, maintenance and reporting, so commitments made up front can be checked later.

Operations

Ordinance consulting

Reviewing and drafting zoning ordinance language and development agreement terms, written to be clear, measurable and enforceable, whether you want strict standards, flexible ones or a mix.

Ordinance consulting

Our approach

No side to take. Just the facts on the page.

We don't argue for or against data centers. We look at what's being proposed, compare it with the governing code, the project documents and sound engineering practice, and report what we find, with sources, in language a council member or a resident can follow.

That holds whether we're engaged by a city, a county, a community group or a developer.

How an engagement works

Four steps

  1. Scope

We agree on the questions to answer, the documents to review and the deadline you're working toward.

  2. Review

We work through the proposal, ordinance or agreement against code, the record and engineering practice.

  3. Report

You get written findings that cite their sources and separate fact from opinion.

  4. Follow-through

If it helps, we walk your board, council or group through the findings and answer questions.

Who's behind HIG

Three backgrounds, one review.

Our team covers the technical, regulatory and financial sides of a data center proposal, so nothing important gets reviewed in isolation.
